Elaine Ong

Elaine Ong joined MEO Group as the Chief Financial Officer in October 2023. Before joining the Group, Elaine held senior finance positions in various offshore marine and shipping MNCs, namely BW LPG, BW Group and Teekay Corporation respectively. She has more than 30 years of leadership experience across multiple aspects of Finance with an impressive track record of leading change management initiatives that enhanced operational effectiveness and cost optimisation. She has led and demonstrated several successful portfolios such as IPO listings, M&A transactions, due diligence and post-acquisition integration.

Elaine started her post-graduate career with Ernst & Young in Canada from 1993 to 1999 and is a Chartered Accountant with the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada.

Lawrence Lua

Lawrence Lua joined DBS Bank in 2011 as the Managing Director and Head of Private Bank for South East Asia. He was also a Member of the DBS Bank Singapore Management Committee. In Dec 2019, he stepped down as Group Head of the Private Bank to take on the role of Senior Advisor. He is also an Independent Director of Bumitama Agri Ltd and SingHaiyi Group Ltd. Lawrence has over 35 years of banking experience and was conferred a Fellow of the Institute of Banking and Finance in 2014. He held senior positions in various foreign private banks and was the Global Market Manager and Country Head for Citibank Private Bank Singapore from 1991 to 1999. Lawrence started his banking and finance career with the Monetary Authority of Singapore after graduating with a Bachelor of Social Science (Honours in Economics) from the National University of Singapore in 1982. In addition to his role in DBS, Lawrence is Chairman of the IBF Private Banking Industry Workgroup and a Member of the IBF Standards Committee. He also serves on the Advisory Board for Wealth Management at the Singapore Management University. Beyond banking, Lawrence serves as the Founding Chairman of a not-for-profit child development organization since 1991 and was recently appointed Chairman of the Nee Soon Link Citizens’ Consultative Committee. He is also a mentor to Bettr Barista, a social enterprise involved in helping marginalized women and youth-at-risk.

John McNamara

John is the Business Unit Head of Express Offshore Solutions (EOS)- MEO’s project transportation solutions division for project cargo, project marine equipment supply and management; and project consultancy. He has been managing EOS since May 2017. John has vast expertise in various roles in the maritime industry, specialising in Business Development and Operations. Prior to his tenure in EOS, John was the Managing Director of Heavy Lift & Marine Pte Ltd from 2015, Business Development Director of Kestrel Maritime Pty. Ltd / Hansa Heavy Lift (Aust) Pty Ltd. from 2012, Commercial Manager of F.H. Bertling Ltd from 2010 and Operations Manager and Business Manager of Agility Project Logistics from 2009 and 2006, respectively.

Tan Wee How

Tan Wee How is MEO’s Chief Operations Officer, leading the Operation, Crewing, Technical, and Engineering functions, including the digitalization transformation. He brings with him 20 years of professional experience in ship management and general management from several leading marine companies, such as CH Offshore, Otto Marine and Bourbon Offshore. He was also an ex-employee of MEO (2012 – 2015) and had previously helmed the ASEAN Business Unit – now known as Eastern Hemisphere Business Unit. Wee How holds a Bachelor Degree (Marine Engineering) from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne, and Graduate Diplomas (Human Resource) and (Logistics Material) from the Singapore Institute of Management and from the Singapore Institute of Material Management respectively.

Muhammad Asif

Asif has been managing Specialized Vessels Services (SVS) unit since December 2017, He has joined MEO with 28 years of Marine and Offshore, business, operations and asset management experience and have worked in management positions with companies in Europe, Middle East, Africa, Russia and Asia Pacific.

Asif is holder of Certificate of Competency Class 1 unlimited (Chief Engineer) from United Kingdom. He holds Diploma in Ship Management from Lloyds Kent College London. He also holds industry qualification of P & I and H & M insurance.

Ankush Agarwal

Ankush Agarwal is a Marine Engineer with a master’s degree in Business Management in Finance. He has more than 20 years of experience in oil and gas services and main fleet shipping. Ankush started his career sailing on tankers and bulk carriers in Shipping Corporation of India. He then moved ashore and worked with Greatship and Jaya/MMA. He has been with MEO Group since 2014, starting at the headquarters in Singapore and then moving to the group’s Western Hemisphere business unit in UAE. Ankush has served in various departments including Technical, Marketing, Commercial, Finance and General Management. He has operated in multiple geographies ranging from Asia Pacific to Middle East and Africa.

Ankush is happily married and has one daughter who is the apple of his eye.

 

Brad Morphew

Brad has been managing the ASEAN Business Unit since January 2016. Prior to managing the ASEAN BU, he was heading MEO’s Australasia Business Unit for five years. He has 19 years’ experience in various management roles within the offshore oil & gas industry, previously working with Schlumberger and Transocean (via Schlumberger offshore drilling contractor business spin-off and merger with Transocean). He worked in various country and regional offices for these previous employer companies supporting operations throughout Asia & Pacific, Africa, Russia, Caspian and Mediterranean.Prior to this period he worked for 6 years’ in Chartered Accounting public practice within Western Australia.

Brad is an Associate Chartered Accountant with the Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand and was admitted as a Registered Tax Agent in Australia. He also holds a Bachelor of Business Degree (double major Accounting & Finance) from Edith Cowan University in Western Australia.

Darren Ang

Darren Ang is the Chief Executive Officer of  MEO. Preceding this role, Darren was Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the company until June 2021, Chief Marketing Officer of the company from November 2016 to March 2019 and Chief Operating Officer from September 2007. Darren was employed as an Assistant Engineer at A.P. Moller, a Petroleum Surveyor at Det Norske Veritas and a Marine Consultant at Bureau Veritas. He also worked at SvitzerWijsmuller from 1999, holding various positions in the company, including Operations Manager, Deputy General Manager and General Manager, until joining Express Offshore Transport (“EOT” a predecessor entity of MEO) in 2005.

Darren attended the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree (first class) in Marine Engineering. Darren is also a member of the Institute of Marine Engineers, the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers and the Singapore Institute of Management.

Dr Chew Kia Ngee

Dr. Chew Kia Ngee , BEc(Hons), MCom, PhD, FCA (Australia), FCA (Singapore), FCPA (Australia) was a Partner of Coopers & Lybrand, Singapore since 1978 and served as its Senior Partner and Executive Chairman from 1996. Upon the merger of Cooper & Lybrand and Pricewaterhouse in 1999, he was appointed Deputy Chairman. He retired from the firm at the end of June 2005.

Dr Chew is currently on the Board of Haw Par Corporation Ltd, and is also Chairperson of its Audit Committee. Until the end of November 2014, he was also Chairman of Ausgroup Ltd. He also served previously as a Director of Datacraft Asia Ltd and Courts Ltd.

On the Community front, Dr Chew is a Director of the Singapore Eye Foundation and also serves on the Audit Committee of Kong Meng San Phor Khar See Monastery.

Dr. Chew is a Fellow of the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia as well as a Fellow of the Australian CPA.

Dr. Chew holds a Bachelor of Economics (Honours) from the University of Malaya, a Master of Commerce from the University of Melbourne and a PhD in Business and Management from the University of South Australia.

Richard Lorentz

Richard is a founding director of Singapore-listed KrisEnergy Ltd., for which he is also Director of Business Development responsible for the strategic development of the group’s upstream oil and gas portfolio. Prior to KrisEnergy, he was a co-founder of Pearl Energy, which listed in Singapore in 2005 and was acquired by an Abu-Dhabi investment group a year later.

He is a petroleum geologist with more than 30 years of experience in the upstream oil and gas industry. Previous key positions include Manager of New Business Development for Elf Aquitaine in Singapore, New Ventures & Exploration Manager for Gulf Indonesia and Senior Production Geologist for Asamera (South Sumatra) Ltd. He has also worked for Oriental Petroleum & Minerals in the Philippines, Funk Exploration Inc. in the United States and Anglo-Suisse (Pakistan) Inc. based in Karachi.

Richard is a member of the Indonesian Petroleum Association, American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), Oklahoma Geological Society and the South East Asia Petroleum Exploration Society. In 2013, he received a Distinguished Service Award and a Certificate of Merit from the AAPG.

He holds a Master of Science (Geology) from the University of the Philippines and a Bachelor of Science (Geology) from Oklahoma State University.
